What Other People Say

The Real Deal

posted Apr 17, 2011, 12:08 AM by Unknown user

This dojo is the real deal with real martial artists who are not in the martial arts business (a.k.a. "buy -a-belt." The people who run this dojo volunteer thier own time and money to keep it running. This is a place only for serious martial artists. If you would like to purchase a black belt without gaining any true knowledge or experience, then this is not the place for you.

The Aikido instructor at this dojo is fantastic! He takes a lot of time with people and makes sure that they understand the concepts. He is a great teacher. My child has been taking Aikido there for quite some time and he loves it! Some may say that the dojo, the practice area, is not what they would expect. However, I have found that it is not how flashy the dojo is, but the teaching that goes on inside that matters. I would recommend this dojo to anyone who may be looking to take up a martial art. The classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:00pm. My child has learned so much in this class and has made many friends in the process. I also feel more comfortable when she goes out with friends now because I know that she can take care of herself should the need arise. I would highly recommend this dojo.

Not a money making machine For serious martial artists

by haskenberb at Citysearch

Honshin Kan is run by volunteers who spend thier own time and money aside from having other full time jobs to practice the arts they love. These are people who are dedicated to preserving the true art.

This is also a very affordable place. Most places make you sign a year or more contract which can cost thousands. The owner/Sensei uses his own money to keep Honshin Kan running.

Yes, it is basically a barn but you must remember this is the real deal. If you want a shiny, expensive place where the parents have basically purchased their child's belts, then go elsewhere.

This is for those who are serious about martial arts and discipline.

Honshin Kan: Great Aikido Dojo!

by John567 at Citysearch

Honshin Kan is a great place to practice Aikido. The teacher is fantastic! I have been practicing for several years and I have learned so much during that time! The class has people of a variety of ages, races, and ranks participating. It is an awesome place to learn and you not only learn life lessons, but you make great friends. Come out to the dojo and check out a class. It is affordable too. I am a full-time student at the JC and it doesn't break the bank. Awesome class, 100% recommended.
